Some people come to Attack on Titan for unravelling mysteries, likeable characters and social commentary. But there are others who simply adore the gore. Well, for those of the latter persuasion, you've got plenty of gnarly shows to move on to, and one of the bloodiest is this awesome series.

Elfen Lied shows as a pair of university students stumble across a girl named Lucy. However, unbeknownst to them, she's actually a mutant killer with telekinetic abilities known as a Diclonius. Lucy is fresh off an escape from a government facility, and now sports a split personality between harmless and murderous.

There are plenty of strong concepts and compelling ideas in this anime, but it's really the action and gore that makes it feel special. There's an unapologetic brutality to the series that could almost make AOT look friendly by comparison.

If that's the kind of storytelling you enjoy, then you'll have a blast with this one, as the animation leaves the series littered with shocking moments and horrifying visuals.
