6. Moo Moo (Season 4, Episode 16)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Box Jake Holt
NBC

With a show centred on the police, it was only a matter of time before Brooklyn Nine-Nine dared itself to tackle something as tricky and important as racial profiling.

In Moo Moo, Terry is detained by a police officer whilst attempting to retrieve his daughters' toy, and is only let go when he finally proves he's a cop. This leads Terry to file a complaint against the officer for his actions, but he finds his complaint blocked by Captain Holt, who sees making a big deal about the situation a risk worth avoiding.

A heartfelt and insightful episode that looks at racism in a frank and confrontational manner, Moo Moo features a career-best performance from Terry Crews and several deeply moving and important scenes between Terry and Holt, two cops who have faced their fair share of discrimination in their lives.

It's not all doom and gloom, though, as the episode also balances this hard-hitting drama with a subplot featuring the awkward babysitting antics of Jake and Amy, who try to navigate their way around the difficulties of childcare.
