15 Best Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes

9. Yippie Kayak (Season 3, Episode 10)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Box Jake Holt
NBC

Jake loves Die Hard. It's one of his defining characteristics, if you think about it. So when he ends up trapped in a large store by robbers alongside Charles and Gina, he finds himself living his dream scenario.

In season three's action-packed Yippie Kayak (named after Charles' hilariously poor Die Hard quote), Jake puts his movie knowledge to the test as he and Charles work to keep Gina safe and stop the criminals from fulfilling their plan.

This leads to some brilliant situations, including Gina's attempt to make a flamethrower and Charles crawling through the shop's vents in order to save his friends.

Yippie Kayak also features a fantastic subplot between The Vulture and Terry, who butt heads about to handle the robbery until Terry decides he's had enough and throws his old captain in the trash.

An action-thriller crossed with a buddy-cop comedy, Yippie Kayak is the best Christmas episode of the show, and a solid homage to Jake's favourite movie.
