The first half of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's debut season revolves around Jake and Amy's attempts to get more arrests than each other.

Throughout the season, it's pretty close, with each of them being in the lead at different points, but it all comes to a head in The Bet, where Jake emerges victorious and gets the chance to take Amy on the "worst date ever."

This had been the plan for a while, but the titular bet comes to an end just as Jake realises he has feelings for Amy. When work ends up getting in the way of their night out, the pair end up bonding and messing around, so much so that Jake decides to stay on the job until its done, rather than torture Amy with all the weird plans he had for their date.

The Bet is the first time it really becomes clear that Jake and Amy will end up together on the show, and works wonders to show off just how well they work together. It's funny and sweet, and sets up one hell of a romance.
