10. Resident Alien

Resident Alien Alan Tudyk
Syfy

Resident Alien is so wonderfully weird it was either going to be a dismal failure or an instant success. Thanks in equal measure to the powerhouse performance of the constantly underrated Alan Tudyk and the brilliantly funny, twisted writing, it's very much the latter.

The witty and heartfelt dramedy follows an alien (Tudyk) who's sent earth to destroy humanity but inexplicably finds himself bonding with the residents of a close-knit town in Colorado. There, he grapples with emotions he's never felt before, and befriends a nine-year-old boy (Judah Prehn) who can see his true, alien form.

Not only is Resident Alien a hopeful observation of the human condition and a touching tale of unlikely friendship, it's also endlessly hysterical thanks to the comedy stylings of Alan Tudyk and his character's inability to understand social cues or simple problems.

Recently renewed for a second second, time will only tell if Resident Alien is destined for bigger things, but it's certainly got off to a blistering start.
