5. Baby Reindeer
The social reckoning that's come with Baby Reindeer - particularly the cruel Internet sleuths digging into its story to find the real people who inspired it - shouldn't take away from the power or creativity of Richard Gadd's autobiographical drama.
A brave and unsettling attempt for Gadd to lay bare the details of his past encounter with a stalker and a man who groomed him with career opportunities, Baby Reindeer is part comedy, part thriller, constant waking nightmare, and as darkly amusing as it is horrible to confront.
It's also, despite the severity of its subject, compassionate in its depiction of those involved, from the troubled stalker Martha (Jessica Gunning) to Gadd's aspiring stand-up comic Donny. Gadd is honest about himself, willing to face his shortcomings while powerfully recounting the most traumatising moments of his own life.
Fast-paced and creatively filmed, Baby Reindeer isn't a show to return to, but it is a brilliant confession and an exciting feat of storytelling, full of humanity despite the darkness that surrounds it.
