15 Best TV Villains In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

2. Grant Ward

Grant Ward Agents of Shield
ABC

Appears In: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

When the series first kicked off, it was hard to deny that Agent Ward's general lack of personality made him the least endearing of everyone on the team. But when the events of The Winter Soldier changed everything, Ward's unassumingly bland personality was revealed as the perfect ruse that made the big twist around his character all the more jaw-dropping.

Ever since, Ward has been a constant threat to the team who he betrayed, whether he was working with Garrett, Whitehall, 33 or even on his own. While it's always great to see Ward get his comeuppance, it's even more fun to see what he does next, always playing the field for his own goals.

With HYDRA in shreds in the wake of Baron von Strucker's death in Age of Ultron, Ward was last seen gathering several members to form a new head of the organization for the sole purpose of closure. And considering HYDRA was again seen in Ant-Man, with Mitchell Carson successfully escaping with a vial of Darren Cross' own particles, one can't help but wonder if it'll come back into play as part of whatever Ward may have planned headed into the third season.
