Lexx Show
HBO

Another of Heavy Traffic director Ralph Bashki’s many tragically thwarted projects, this short-lived HBO series attempted to do for science fiction what the network’s then-recent hit Tales from the Crypt had done for corny EC Comics-style horror, instantly recognizable host included.

Of course, adult animation was a hard sell back in the nineties and with its constant violence, sex, and drugs, this series was nothing if not adult.

But for modern viewers, the lush animation of this show and its inventive, dark imaginings of the titular cyberpunk dystopia is slicker, sexier, and more artistically consistent than Netflix’s recent similar genre offering Love, Sex, and Robots.
