15 Greatest Alan Partridge Moments

6. Alan Meets The Irish

Alan's cultural sensitivities are on full display when he meets two Irish television producers. From his astute analysis of the U2 classic Sunday Blood Sunday ("really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday"), his succinct summary of Irish stereotyping ("toothless simpletons, people with eyebrows on their cheeks...") and his ingenious idea for a tourist board tagline ("dere's more to Ireland dan dis"), Alan is on fine form. He also shows how easily he would fit in in Ireland with a marvellously casual bit of breakfast small talk ("so, how many people were killed in the Irish famine? At the end of the day, you will pay the price if you're a fussy eater").
