15 Greatest Alan Partridge Moments

7. The Milky Bars Are On Me

When Alan meets The Milky Bar Kid (Simon Pegg), the interview isn't quite as light hearted as he may have hoped. It turns out that since the famous advert, the 'Kid' has hit some hard times. He has been drinking since he was 12, turned to drugs in his mid-teens and by 25 was a gay prostitute. Alan's reaction to this is predictably hilarious. Faced with a sobbing guest, Alan's first instinct is to sing the Milky Bar song with forced gusto barely disguising his panic. This does not go down well with his guest. Alan's conflicted relationship with "gaymen" also raises its head in this chat. While he would have described his previous position as "homo-sceptic", age has brought with it a more liberal perspective for Alan. As he points out in his book, he once spent a weekend at the Earls Court Boat Show with Dale Winton, "one of the gayest men in Europe".
