5. Various Film Adaptations

There's almost no shortage of TV shows based on movies these days, ranging from the fantastic Fargo to the cancelled Minority Report, and 2016/17 is going to be no different.

In the midseason there'll be new series based on Taken, Romeo and Juliet (ok, that one's a play, but still...), Time After Time, and Training Day. The focus of this list is autumn though, and in that case you've got a series based on Frequency at The CW, and Lethal Weapon and The Exorcist on Fox.

Frequency stars Peyton List as a police detective who discovers the ability to communicate with her dead father over ham radio, and together they work on an unsolved murder.

Lethal Weapon stars Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans as Riggs and Murtaugh, and will basically take the buddy-cop idea of the films and spin it out over an entire season.

The Exorcist, meanwhile, has Geena Davis in a lead role, and it's her teenage daughter who'll be possessed in this take, which doesn't look as terrible as you'd imagine.
