16 New HBO Series You Need To Get Excited About
14. Crime
Criminal Justice was a BBC crime drama that ran for two series totalling 10 episodes, with both series having their five episodes air over the course of one week. The first followed a man (played by Ben Whishaw), accused of murder after a drunken night out. The second focused on a wife who stabbed her abusive husband. So, why am I going on about a British drama that aired around seven years ago? Because Crime, a new HBO series, is based upon it, and its writer, Richard Price, also wrote for that show.
Transporting the story to America and with an eight-episode run, it'll star Riz Ahmed as a man accused of murdering a girl in New York's Upper West Side, and John Turturro as his lawyer. It all sounds like a perfect fit for a gritty HBO drama.
