Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is a wonderful book series, full of absurd adventures, colourful characters, epic escapes, interwoven intricacies, and Snicket's own comedically cynical commentary.

A film was made back in 2003, which, while not terrible, didn't do the books justice, and Netflix does seem a much better fit. There's time for all the stories to be told here, and to develop the various characters in play, especially the three Boudelaire children and their guardian, Count Olaf.

Speaking of Olaf, he's the ace-in-the-hole for Netflix here, given he's such an important character, with Neil Patrick Harris playing the role. He's got fantastic comic timing and a sense for the theatrical, and seems an excellent fit, while Patrick Warburton will narrate as Snicket. If they can make a good adaptation of these books, then they'll have made an excellent TV series.
