Created by Sam Vincent and Jon Brackley (Spooks), and a co-production between Channel 4, AMC and Kudos, Humans is the latest offering of artificial intelligence this year (from Ex-Machina to Avengers: Age of Ultron, via Chappie, theyve had plenty of big-screen attention in 2015), and one that imagines a parallel present where robots are created to look near-identical to humans. Here theyre called Synths, and are the must-have gadget in this version of London, acting as servants for their owners. This show will explore what happens as the line between humans and machines becomes increasingly blurred. The cast is fairly impressive, including Oscar-winner William Hurt (Kiss of the Spider Woman) and a variety of actors well-known to British TV audiences, such as Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd), Gemma Chan (Fresh Meat) and Colin Morgan (Merlin). It looks suitably intelligent and creepy, and wouldnt be out of place as an episode of Black Mirror. Hopefully thats something that can work across an eight episode run.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
