14. On The Road - Preacher

Preacher's first season (which was mostly good, but had a fair few stumbles) spent all 10 episodes in its small Texas town, a departure from the comics. With Season 2, they're back on track, as the show finally becomes the American road trip fans of the graphic novels know and love.
The premiere, fittingly titled On The Road, does a wonderful job of setting the tone for the rest of the season (which holds up in the following couple of episodes, and hopefully the whole thing).
It's a riotous affair, full of madcap humour, insane violence and gore, and some brilliant character interaction between its three leads. Jesse, Cassidy, and Tulip, after a season of getting to know each other, are even more dynamic this time around, and following the three of them is one hell of a crazy ride.
The juxtaposition of tone helps keep the episode surprising: we kick things off with an incredibly joyride from the police, soundtracked to Come On Eileen; by the end of the instalment, there's a serious Terminator vibe as Jesse and co are stalked by the terrifying villain Saint Of Killers.
It mines its source material for twisted laughs and serious shocks alike, making for an episode that's packed with fun, action, and suspense, and showcases just how great Preacher could well be in Season 2.
