20 Best Netflix Original Shows

15. Black Mirror

Stranger Things
Channel 4

Black Mirror has been inconsistent during its later run, most viewers would agree. But its weak spots don't take away from its most remarkable achievements. Originally running on Channel 4, the anthology series has been a Netflix mainstay since its brilliant third season, and along the way has offered up some of the most daring and innovative TV episodes of the generation.

Between the interactive movie Bandersnatch and such unforgettable episodes as Nosedive, San Junipero, Hated in the Nation and the Star Trek-inspired USS Callister, Black Mirror thrives off its confident storytelling and ability to dig into the heart of the issues that plague modern society.

Each episode of the show is isolated. It's in turn darkly amusing, spine-tinglingly sinister and effortlessly heartbreaking. Without fault, it's also constantly absorbing, hooking you in with every shock twist and tantalising mystery.

Black Mirror's sixth season has been rumoured for a while now, and despite its recent low points it's fair to say fans will still be clamouring for more episodes.
