20 Best TV Comedy Characters Of The 21st Century

4. BoJack Horseman - Bojack Horseman

It may feel like BoJack was taken from us far too soon. Yet the show managed to end on its own terms and gave us a hugely emotional send off. The show received consistently high praise throughout its six season run and has left a big hole in fans hearts.

BoJack as a character gave us a deeply depressing look into the life of a washed up actor, desperately trying to hold on to any sense of relevancy. To see a character on screen dealing with such intense mental health issues is such an unusual sight. But that is exactly why so many people latched on to the character.

Whilst being a comedy show, BoJack Horseman dealt with mental health and addiction in a way that was highly praised. The show never felt as if it was exploiting the situations involved, everything was grounded in realism and gave viewers a challenging, yet enjoyable watch.

The show has a great cast, including Alison Brie, Aaron Paul and Amy Sedaris, but its Will Arnett's brilliantly sombre performance that really helped the show to stick. The ability to convey that amount of emotion through voice acting is something that seems easy, but in practice is incredibly difficult to pull off. Yet Arnett has had no issues giving strong performances in every single episode.
