The Little Sitcom That Could. Community fans have long repeated the mantra of #sixseasonsandamovie, but so many times it has looked like a wish that would never come true. There was Dan Harmon's departure after Season 3; the rather terrible Season 4; the cancellation by NBC after Season 5, even despite Harmon's return. While big-hitters like Netflix and Amazon passed it over, it was Yahoo that became the unlikely saviour of this show, delivering earlier this year a sixth season. Was it the best season of Community? No - that honour belongs somewhere in the first three seasons (I'd go with Season 2, but it's a tough choice). But it still felt like Community even despite the loss of a couple of key players, and had many moments to remind us fans why we fell in love with it in the first place. It had some strong new characters in Elroy and Frankie, plenty of the meta-humour and references you'd expect, that same strong group dynamic between the original cast, another paintball episode, and delivered one of the best season finales of the year. One day we may get the movie. For now, Season 6 is enough.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
