20 Best TV Shows Of 2017
7. Game Of Thrones
Season 7 wasn't Game of Thrones' best. It had a number of problems with its storytelling and internal logic, most of which came from the decision to have a shortened seven-episode season instead of the usual 10.
But still, a weaker season of Game of Thrones is better than most other TV shows. With its mammoth budget and sprawling cast, it's capable of doing scale and spectacle in a way no other series can match, but it also retained its heart and plenty of the more intimate moments as well.
It was a season where the dragons were unleashed in fire-breathing, destructive glory, with the Loot Train Attack one of the most stunningly filmed sequences of the year. And yet just as compelling where the conversations in small rooms, where the great actors of this show - like Lena Headey - where really allowed to shine brightest.
It's TV that's designed to make you feel something. It can have your heart swell one moment, race the next, and completely break in another. Thrilling, funny, and full of payoffs years, even decades, in the making.
