20 Best TV Shows Of 2018

17. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

By Season 5, many sitcoms have either blown through their premise, or at the very least are starting to show the first signs of a decline. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, however, was better than ever before.

The show won a Golden Globe before its first season had even finished, but since then it's become underrated if anything (as evidenced by its low viewership), which ultimately led to Fox cancelling their funniest sitcom.

That's despite Season 5 bringing with it one of the finest Halloween episodes you're likely to see and, specifically in 2018, an all-time great cold open (with some help from The Backstreet Boys), a deft handling of some serious issues, Andre Braugher going full Homicide: Life On The Street in a near-bottle episode, and the long-awaited, super sweet nuptials of Jake and Amy.

99's greatest strength is its ensemble, not just in their comic skills but more so how they bring so much heart to the show, making the precinct feel like a real family unit. Season 5 had fans come for the jokes, but stay for the love - and that's what she said.
