After six tumultuous seasons, This Is Us ended the saga of the Pearson Family this year with a deeply satisfying farewell, full of more tragedy and hope than ever before. Forced to say goodbye to their mother, Randall, Kevin and Kate are finally able to give themselves (and us watching) some much needed closure.

Shedding light on what becomes of the extended family, from the rocky marriage of Kate and Toby, the political aspirations of Randall, and the not-so-distant lives of their children and grandchildren, This Is Us' grand family melodrama comes to an end with a beautiful display of human connection.

Though it was always going to be a difficult series to end -- and one that sometimes, it must be said, stretched itself too far -- This Is Us' revitalising swan song is nothing short of a masterstroke. Empathy and acceptance has rarely been portrayed so well on the small screen.
