20 Best TV Shows Of 2023
15. The Night Agent
On paper, The Night Agent seems like it should have been released in 2005: An FBI agent faces a government conspiracy while saving a targeted victim of the officials he's attempting to bring down.
In action, though, The Night Agent feels decidedly modern, a throwback genre series cut from the same cloth as 24 and the short-lived Alias that is every bit as fresh and twisty as its inspirations were back in their heyday. Given a modern political edge and a star-studded cast, it makes for a riotously fun little thriller.
Brilliantly choreographed and imbued with real feeling - thanks in large part to the chemistry of fugitives Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan - The Night Agent's intense mystery and high stakes carry it through its weighty runtime with minimal strain.
Throw all of this together with terrifying antagonists portrayed by Hong Chau and Eve Harlow, and you've got a seemingly simple thriller that gets it all right.
