After a year off in 2016, The Leftovers is returning to our screens this April for a third and final season.

The show delivered a mixed first season followed by a huge upturn in quality for Season 2, and is getting the chance to go out on its own terms. As it's run by Damon Lindelof, we probably won't get too many answers - we won't be finding out lots more about the Departure, for example - but should at least get a definitive, hopefully satisfying ending.

What that will be, though, is anyone's guess. From the Guilty Remnant to Australia, the afterlife, and the Rapture, the show asks big questions and offers up rumination on existence, so is this all headed to some big, world ending event? Or will the scale be much smaller? Lindelof has said that the characters will find peace, but what exactly does that mean?
