After Rick, Morty, and Summer follow a distress call to a planet, they meet Unity - an hivemind that Rick used to date. When Rick gets back together with her, Summer objects since his old flame intends to spread her consciousness throughout the cosmos.

At one point, Rick speaks to another race assimilated by Unity called Beta-Seven, where every member is voiced by Patton Oswalt. The renowned comedian has a habit of playing bizarre characters including a giant-headed supervillain, an evil koala, and a merman's gills so it's not too surprising he got to play an assembly of Borg-inspired extra-terrerstrials. In fact, Oswalt's high-pitched tone and verbose way of speaking is weirdly fitting for a race of aliens assimilated by a higher being.
