17. All Those Baby Khaleesi's Are Being Pronounced Wrong

What's more shocking; that 150 baby girls born in 2012 were named Khaleesi, or that only 21 were called Daenerys? Names taken from popular culture is hardly new - Wendy wasn't a common name until Peter Pan took the Darling girl to Neverland - but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous is that most of these babies are probably being called the wrong thing: the commonly accepted pronunciation, "ka-LEE-see" (as said by Jorah Mormont), isn't actually correct - it's "KHAH-lay-see". Whoops. Funnily enough, it's not even Khaleesi that's had the biggest leap in popularity in terms of real-world names, but Arya, which in 2013 was the 277th most popular American baby girl name. Who's waiting for a baby Joffrey?
