16. George R.R. Martin Has To Keep Putting Off His Cameo

You'd think, being the mastermind of the whole story and heavily involved in the adaptation's production that A Song Of Ice And Fire scribe George R.R. Martin would have had a cameo at some point during the series. And while he hasn't yet, it's not due to a lack of interest in doing so. Martin was going to appear as a victim of The Red Wedding in The Rains Of Castamere (a bit of karmic retribution for what he put fans through), but his schedule got in the way. He was again set to pop up in Season 4, but had to cancel when he learned it would mean he'd have to travel to Croatia. But don't be disheartened by that - the reason he didn't want to go was because he was busy working on The Winds Of Winter, the sixth book in the series.
