Series 8's The Caretaker offered viewers an unpleasantly strange moment courtesy of Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor. In a fraught conversation with Clara, the Doctor refuses to believe that an ex-soldier can be a Maths teacher and therefore must be the P.E instructor instead. And then he keeps on doing this, long past the point where it's actually funny or even remotely makes any sense for his character. The fault is in the editing, really. If the last few times where the Doctor calls Danny Pink "P.E" had been cut, the Time Lord wouldn't have come across as so atypically stupid and intolerant. Alas, they weren't, and he did.
