20. Earthshock (1982)
It's always guaranteed to be a memorable moment when a Doctor Who companion bids the TARDIS adieu and it's perhaps even more memorable when said exit involves their untimely demise. Such was the case with poor Adric, played by Matthew Waterhouse, back in the 1982 Fifth Doctor serial Earthshock when he heroically sacrificed himself to try and stop a ship from crashing into Earth. Powerful stuff, man.
