15. Poussey’s Death – Orange Is The New Black
Killing off a fan favourite character is never an easy thing, with the death of Poussey on Orange Is The New Black being a perfect example. For over four seasons she’d provided the show with warmth and humour, and had any number of great scenes.
The fourth season continued the show’s winning streak, managing to be both funny and tense in equal measures. The tension built throughout the season, with the prison becoming overcrowded and inmates clashing with the guards. It had to come to a head at some point, which it did in devastating fashion.
The inmates eventually take a stand, and during the chaos, Poussey is held down Bayley and ends up being accidently crushed to death. It’s harrowing stuff, and the last thing fans expected to happen.
