20 Things Only People Addicted To Soaps Can Understand
Because there's never been a TV moment as good as "You ain't my mother" ... "YES I AM!"
From Eastenders to Brookside, soaps have been a long-standing tradition for British TV. The genre can be quite divisive for TV viewers, as many people look criticise their perceived lack of writing or acting quality while usually basing this opinion on five minutes they watched three years ago. It can be hard to accept that, actually, soaps are a legitimate source of entertainment, even if the storylines are sometimes a little wild. Those who are involved in (read: religiously watch) a particular soap have the small issue that their favourite show is often on every day, and sometimes even more than once in a day. This can cause problems if they, for example, do not know any other fans of soaps, and so their friends don't understand the importance of seeing exactly what happens with that gun that got buried but then dug up by a mystery hooded character. It's a little known fact that soap addiction can happen to anybody. There's a reason why they generally go on for decades, as unlike most TV shows any dips in quality are short-lived and usually down to a single character who gets bumped off pretty quickly once their storyline has run its course. So to all soap-lovers, embrace your addiction. Soaps are awesome, and here's to many more years spending your life with whatever loveable rogues in whichever fictional British town that you love.
