20 Things You Totally Missed In The Walking Dead
1. Space Junk
What better way to conclude the list than to talk about Rick's nine season journey from dutiful sheriff's deputy to battle-hardened post-apocalyptic badass.
Honestly, we could talk about his character development for days, but there's one aspect of his tale that deserves a major shout-out.
In Days Gone By, Rick finds himself trapped in a tank surrounded by walkers. As Glenn calls him a dumbass and promises a rescue, the camera pulls out of the scene and the song Space Junk by Wang Chung can be heard playing.
The song itself is kind of playful and fun, but manages to work wonders with the tone of the scene. It signifies the start of Rick's journey in the new world.
But that's not the last its heard. It reappears in Officer Friendly's last episode in season nine, as he is choppered away from his family. As the song plays and the helicopter flies off, it serves as a bookend to one of TV's most compelling TV character arcs, and reminds fans that the show is entering a whole new era now that Rick's gone.
