17. John Corbett - Line Of Duty

Tabitha Gotham
BBC

Line Of Duty, BBC's critically acclaimed insight into deep-rooted police corruption, refuses to shy away from the dark, grubby underbelly of law enforcement and its ties to organised crime. Never is this better demonstrated than Stephen Graham's turn as wayward undercover officer John Corbett.

Having broken contact with his police handlers and continuing to commit serious crimes while undercover, Corbett works his way to a senior position within the series' Organised Crime Syndicate, hijacking and stealing confiscated drugs and even murdering several police officers.

His cover is eventually broken and he is lured into a trap by other members of the syndicate, having his throat brutally cut in front of a terrified group of captive sex slaves who the criminals callously refer to as "livestock". The Bill this series most definitely ain't.
