20 TV Episodes That Are Totally Flawless

11. Walking Distance - The Twilight Zone

The Sopranos
CBS

It's easy to think about The Twilight Zone and only remember the episodes that attacked the fear bone (Eye of the Beholder, Living Doll, Nightmare At 20,000 Feet), but the simple truth is that the anthology reached its peak with an episode that can best be described as bittersweet.

Walking Distance follows a man who travels back in time and gets to see scenes from his childhood, allowing him to return to his hometown and recount a time in his life where he felt truly happy.

Nostalgic and almost dreamlike, the episode speaks to that painfully human feeling of wanting to start again, but also serves as a reminder that looking backward is only going to ruin what's in front of you, and it's not all doom and gloom.

With beautiful simplicity and startling emotional heft, Walking Distance is a slice of TV heaven that is bursting with hope and joy, and packs a mean punch without any unsettling horror.
