20 Worst Doctor Who Episodes Ever

7. Orphan 55

Doctor Who The Lie of the Land Peter Capaldi

Orphan 55 is bad, but it's not as bad as fans make out. It's got great monsters, and the idea of an irradiated Earth being turned into a luxury resort is a sharper satirical idea than people give it credit for. Also, Jodie and the cast are having fun, which helps a lot.

However, it's stuffed full of supporting characters that range from the forgettable to the weird, and the downright annoying. You're supposed to care about Vilma and BENNI!!!! but she's so tooth-grindingly annoying that you find yourself on the side of the Dregs.

And then there's Jodie Whittaker's speech to camera about saving the planet, which is a classic example of a vital message being delivered in the most clunky and patronising manner possible.
