20 Worst Doctor Who Episodes Ever

17. The Long Game

The Long Game stands out as the worst of Christopher Eccleston's consistent run of strong stories.

A Doctor Who story about rolling news and the hidden agendas of the media was ideal for the show's new 20th century era. But the main issue is that Adam's boring subplot doesn't really dovetail with the machinations of Simon Pegg's Editor and his slimy boss.

Adam tapping into the computer systems gave the Jagrafess knowledge of the TARDIS, but how much more dramatic would it be if this unsuitable Doctor Who companion was seduced to the dark side by the Editor?

The Doctor also doesn't get to do a whole lot throughout this story, and the whole thing feels like a rough early draft. The Long Game definitely needed to sharpen its edges.
