20 Worst Doctor Who Episodes Ever
14. New Earth
New Earth makes sense as David Tennant's first series opener. Keep it fun and snappy, and bring back the Face of Boe and Cassandra to further emphasize that this is just Christopher Eccleston with a new face.
But why on Gallifrey did it have to be so bad?
There's a dark satire about privatised healthcare in New Earth, but for some reason it's reduced to a subplot in a campy body-swap comedy that's stretched to breaking point.
Yes, Billie Piper and David Tennant are very funny playing Cassandra, but that doesn't mean you have to dedicate the rest of the episode to alternating between their performances.
Ultimately, nobody watching New Earth is having as much fun as Russell T Davies was clearly having writing it.
