21 TV Shows With Iconic Theme Songs

20. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Series Debut: 1997 The Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme song (which has no title other than Buffy Theme) fit right into the show's time period and demographic - a pop-punk theme for young high school and college kids in the late 90s/early 2000s. Recorded by the band Nerf Herder, there were two versions of the theme, with a heavier version taking precedence starting with the show's third season; that theme became the more memorable of the two. Nerf Herder's contribution allegedly came after series co-star Alyson Hannigan implored creator Joss Whedon to check out the band. Requests for theme song submissions had gone out to several groups, and after Whedon heeded Hannigan's advice, Nerf Herder got the nod. The band actually appeared on the show in its seventh season, in what was a send-off to the fictional bar/hangout The Bronze, where Buffy and her friends spent much of their free time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp_uS59WmQs
