25 WORST Episodes Of Star Trek EVER

7. Threshold - Voyager

Star Trek Threshold

There is a creepy, Frankenstein's Monster aspect to this entry. The gradual degradation of Tom Paris is unsettling to watch and that scene where he pulls out his own tongue is delightfully gory.

However, yet another episode where it seems as though a lot of buzzwords were thrown at the wall and then rolled into a plot. Paris breaks the Warp 10 barrier, which allows him to occupy every part of the universe at the same time. So, if the USS Voyager can fly at Warp 9.99, but both Slipstream and Transwarp are much faster, what is Warp 10? And, this aside, after one failed experiment they just gave up and never tried again. Seems reasonable.

Of course, the most memorable part of the episode is the romantic subplot where Paris and Janeway finally give their love a chance and, presto, there are kids in the mix! What a joyous occasion!

The episode is awful. However, it really is one of those so bad its good types of episodes. There is plenty to enjoy as long as you keep your tongue firmly in cheek while watching it. Even the gorier aspects are quite funny, although Paris is rather unlikable for much of the run time. There's something to be said for the fact that the babies were simply abandoned on the planet, but as audience members, who are we to judge?
