3 Things Doctor Who Should Do To Retain Fans (And 2 To Bring Old Fans Back)

1. Improve The Marketing

Doctor Who Series 12
BBC

For a show that is one of the BBC’s flagship properties, you’d be surprised to see it barely advertised on TV anymore. As the years have gone on, it’s almost as if the BBC have thought “we’ve got enough viewers to keep going, so why bother promoting what used to be a staple of family television?”

Yes, the show is still widely known. Yes, at least 50 other countries across the world now watch the show. But this doesn’t necessarily mean people are talking about it. For Doctor Who, audiences need to be convinced that what they are going to consume is still worth consuming.

When people buy a book, they look at the reviews. It connotes the idea that it is worth buying. Why not do this with Doctor Who’s advertising? Demonstrate that critics still have good things to say about the show, because recent series have been getting good reviews from critics. Show viewers what they are missing out on.
