The recent Last Christmas dealt with the idea of the Doctor being trapped within a dream-within-a-dream but this 2010 story actually beat it to the punch. As the title suggests, it largely revolves around Amy's relationship with her two 'boys' and who she would really choose (spoiler: it's Rory), but unlike that other Amy-centric episode, The Girl Who Waited, it manages to balance that with all the other elements of a great Doctor Who story. Namely, great dialogue, an engaging, original story and a memorable villain - Toby Jones' elfin Dream Lord is hugely underrated. The idea of a dark Doctor isn't actually a new one but it reminds us that even our beloved Time Lord has evil lurking somewhere in his subconscious...
