15. A Christmas Carol

The Christmas Specials that have become a tradition since the show returned in 2005 are often not too popular with fans but 2010's A Christmas Carol stands above many of its fellow specials for giving a Christmas classic a proper Doctor Who spin. With this episode sporting the highly unusual premise of Dickens meets Jaws, you'd have to be a Scrooge just like Kazran Sardick to not love the flying fish and shark or be touched by Kazran and Abigail's doomed romance. A Christmas Carol might only be able to be watched at a specific time of year (the clue's in the title), but no other story marries the spirits of Doctor Who and Christmas quite as well as this one.
