2. Blink
If asked, most hardcore fans and casual viewers alike would say that their favourite Doctor Who episode is Series 3's Blink - and there's good reason for that. Surely Steven Moffat's masterpiece when it comes to the scares that have become so synonymous with his episodes, Blink famously introduces those sinister statues the Weeping Angels who are rightly deserving of their status as the greatest monster to come from the revived series. Besides them, however, the episode also sports one of the best one-off characters in Carrie Mulligan's capable Sally Sparrow (one of those young actors Doctor Who luckily snapped up before they hit Hollywood) and there's some clever, but crucially not complicated, stuff with time travel. Blink takes everything a Doctor Who episode can do and cranks all the elements up to eleven, so much so that it's near impossible to top. So what beat it to the number one slot of our list, then?
