Bill Hader's off-kilter comedic talents have been on display in various forms for a while now, from his scene-stealing turns in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Superbad to his award-winning stint on Saturday Night Live.

Barry will offer him the chance to lead his own series, and the HBO show should provide a great vessel for his sense of humour along with a rarer showcase for his dramatic chops (as seen in The Skeleton Twins).

Co-created with Alan Berg (Seinfeld, Silicon Valley), it'll centre on a fed-up Midwest hitman who travels to Los Angeles for a hit, and ends up finding acceptance within the local theatre community.
