2. Space And Time (Comic Relief, 2011)
"The exterior shell of the TARDIS has drifted forwards in time. If you step into the box now, you step inside the control room a tiny bit into the past." - Amy Pond By March 2011, Steven Moffat had been at the helm of Doctor Who for one broadcast series, so we'd already grown accustomed to his Earth-defying plots. Even he managed to push it to a whole new level in this Comic Relief skit, though, which, as its title suggests, defied the realms of space and time itself for Matt Smith's bow tie-wearing Eleventh Doctor and his faithful companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill). Its sole setting of the TARDIS didn't simplify matters when the Doctor's beloved time machine materialised inside itself, paving the way for one of the most mind-boggling Doctor Who adventures ever written. The ensuing timey-wimey nonsense was ultimately put to rights 7 minutes later, though, leaving viewers with one of the most important lessons to be learnt as an honorary resident of the TARDIS. Always wear trousers! Well, that goes without saying, really... Doctor Who's flustering festivities helped Comic Relief reach their grand total of £74,360,207 that year, and you can't say fairer than that!
