5 Things A Sixth Season Of The Wire Could've Focused On

5. The Law

The courthouse element of the justice system was far from absent over the course of the show - the likes of Rhonda Pearlman and Maurice Levy were prominent characters throughout all five seasons, whilst a number of trials, such as the one where Omar Little testifies wearing a tie with his street gear after being instructed to dress smartly, were depicted here and there. It was criminally underrepresented in comparison to the police department, however, which was a core focus of all five seasons as the likes of McNulty and Bunk attempted to bring the likes of Avon Barksdale and Marlo Stanfield down.

A season focused on one trial and all of its behind-the-scenes elements, perhaps the prosecution of one of the aforementioned individuals, could've been an interesting twist of proceedings. Even though legal dramas are a dime a dozen on American television, the majority are very formulaic and place little emphasis on the bureaucracy and backhanded deals and discussions that underpin any criminal trial, which the series would've likely taken pleasure in picking apart and showcasing extensively.
