5 Things Whovians Want In Doctor Who Season 13

3. Classic Monsters

We know some classic monsters will be returning this season. Sontarans and Weeping Angels have been spotted on set, with the former in costumes that resemble their classic series counterparts.

Chris Chibnall seems to do his best when he writes for classic characters, as we discovered in Season 12 with the return of the Master, the Cybermen and the Daleks. Chibnall's second series was much improved upon Season 11, which had featured all brand new villains and monsters. While there had been some great ideas, like the Solitract and Tim Shaw, not all were executed to their best potential.

With Chibnall’s strength in writing for well-known monsters and fans’ love of a returning foe, it can only be a big positive that we’ll be seeing two of the most interesting classic monsters this season. Maybe this will redeem the Sontarans, who have sadly become a silly joke and have lost all the terror that they used to inspire in recent years. As for the Weeping Angels, it will be exciting to see what kind of spin Chibnall will put on them to make them his own.

Simon is a writer, cat dad and presenter of a geeky radio show with his husband. He loves Doctor Who (except 10 who can get in the bin…only joking.) He idolises Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lara Croft and would 100% be a Sith Lord in a galaxy far, far away. He wishes life was like a musical so he’d actually be a good singer.
