6 Best Game Of Thrones Character Pairings (We Never Got To See)
2. Arya Stark And Lyanna Mormont
While they both fought bravely in The Battle of Winterfell, Arya and Lyanna never got to share a conversation on screen, and it felt like yet another missed opportunity for a final season chock full of them.
The superficial connections are all over the place - aside from being rare examples of young female warriors, they're both also extremely blunt and have no tolerance for BS. Although Lyanna wasn't forced to endure the sort of odyssey Arya was, the whole reason she came to power was due to the death of her family members. While both of these characters were notoriously guarded, perhaps seeing a kindred spirit in one and other would have allowed them to open up.
Arya teaching Lyanna to water dance would have been one of the best full circle moments of the show. The Arya/Brienne sparring session is among the most memorable scenes from an otherwise choppy seventh season, and it would have been a delight to see an echo of that with Arya training a girl named after her aunt in the same Winterfell courtyard where both Stark women often outshone their brothers.
