6 New Stars Of Star Trek To Watch Out For

2. David Ajala - Book

Star Trek Discovery Book
CBS

David Ajala comes to Star Trek Discovery as Book, an ally and love interest of Michael Burnham, in the third season set to debut in October 2020. He is clearly a cat lover (great promo shot!) and seems to be a believer in the Federation, which will be important to the crew of the Discovery.

Ajala is by no means new to the acting world. He had roles in Doctor Who and Black Mirror, along with a small part in The Dark Knight as one of Joker's henchmen. He appeared in Misfits, in Jupiter Ascending and Supergirl as well, meaning that his role in Star Trek: Discovery won't even be his first appearance in a science fiction show.

His smooth British accent is a welcome addition to the show (we like British accents, what can we say?) and based on the most recent trailer, he seems to be a valuable ally for Burnham. He seems to be the character that will reintroduce her to the Federation, in whatever form it exists in the future. He also warns her about the Burn, the event that caused a great cataclysm in the Galaxy, we saw a huge change in the shape of the Quadrant.

Book is the most mysterious character at this point in Star Trek's canon, as he is the first main character we'll meet from the 32nd century. He, along with Adira and Gray, will be the ones to watch in the third season.
