6 Ups & 3 Downs From The Arrowverse In 2018 (So Far)

5. Constantine Finally Has A Home

Matt Ryan Constantine
NBC

Constantine was undoubtedly one of the most underappreciated comic-book shows in recent memory. The Matt Ryan-led series received a positive reception from fans of the Hellblazer comics because it was a dark and faithful adaptation of the John Constantine character. But unfortunately, it never really got a chance to get off the ground as a sharp drop in ratings led to its abrupt cancellation.

But the character found new life when he was introduced into the Arrowverse two years ago, with Matt Ryan reprising his role on Arrow as Constantine helped Green Arrow and Black Canary retrieve the soul of Sara Lance. But it seemed like this was merely a one-off appearance... until 2018. The rise of the demonic Mallus on DC's Legends of Tomorrow led to the character's return, as he showed up to help the resurrected Sara stop the demon once and for all. He then returned in another two episodes before the season finished.

However, the best thing about all of this is that it was simply a precursor of things to come, as The CW confirmed that Ryan has been promoted to a series regular for Season 4 of Legends. Many of us had been hoping to see Constantine aboard the Waverider for quite some time because, with his suggestive comments and quick-witted responses, the demon hunter will be a perfect addition to the line-up of outcasts and misfits. Moreover, it's great that Ryan's Constantine once again has a permanent home on TV.
