When Stranger Things first came to Netflix in 2016, nobody could have predicted how popular it would turn out to be. Feeding into everyone's retro nostalgia for the 1980s, Stranger Things captivated almost everyone - with over 14 million people in the US watching the show within its first month of release.

With a fourth season now in development, fans are eagerly awaiting their next trip to the fictional town of Hawkins. But it seems that we are not the only ones wanting to visit the spooky neighbourhood, as each season so far has featured cameos and guest spots from actors who are the best known for their own involvement in the realm of '80s pop culture.

Following the recent news that Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert England is set to appear in the show's fourth outing, now seems like the perfect time to look at what other actors would make for a perfect fit alongside our favourite team of misfits.

With that in mind, here are seven guests stars who would make for great additions to Matt and Ross Duffer's Stranger Things.

7. Zach Galligan

Best known for starring as Billy Peltzer in Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Zach Galligan would be a perfect fit for the world of Stranger Things.

Season 2 of Stranger Things pays homage to Gremlins when the show's most loved character, Dustin, finding himself in the company of a weird unknown alien that, over time, turns from cute into an ugly-looking extraterrestrial named Dart.

In addition to this, when Dustin returns home from summer camp in the third season, he arrives with a series of inventions, including an electric hammer called the Slammer. In Gremlins, inventor Randall Peltzer creates an extremely similar device.

On one other Gremlins influence on the show, Matt Duffer explained:

"I think there's a scene in episode three, I believe, where Dart is starting to grow and he escapes and the kids are trying to attack it and go after it. We had our composer sort of doing a little theme that sound like the Gremlins theme because we just wanted to give it that little tip of the hat."

Since appearing in both Gremlins films, Galligan hasn't appeared in many projects of note. The '80s favourite has, however, appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager and turned up alongside Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes and Vinnie Jones in Madness in the Method.

Aside from acting, Zach has made regular appearances at comic conventions around the world, meeting fans and posing with replicas of the Gizmo.
